GCRE Raises More Funds for NYU Winthrop First Responders
On Thursday April 23rd, the Garden City Real Estate Professionals Foundation (GCRE) held its second Virtual Fund Raising Cocktail Party via ZOOM to once again raise money for NYU/Winthrop and its First Responders. Through the efforts of over 55 dedicated GCRE members, $5,500 was raised in one hour. During the event, members were extremely focused on the state of the real estate market on Long Island and in New York City, the administration of the government’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the work stoppage of non-essential construction projects and the state of the retail industry. This donation is in addition to the $7,250.00 that GCRE raised during it’s first Virtual Cocktail Fundraiser held on April 2nd where all proceeds were also donated to the NYU/Winthrop First Responders.
Founding Trustee and President Joseph A. Farkas stated “that as the Covid-19 pandemic continued to plague Long Island and impact the lives of Garden City residents and others seeking care from NYU/Winthrop Hospital there was a continued need to support the First Responders risking their lives to help others recover from this highly contagious and in cases, deadly disease”. He continued to emphasize “that GCRE’s mission is to help improve the lives of Garden City residents and issues that impact the community and it remains clear to all of our members that helping the First Responders at NYU/Winthrop was its highest priority”.
GCRE has directed NYU/Winthrop Hospital to use this most recent donation to provide meals for the First Responders staff which shall be purchased from local Garden City restaurants to help these establishments continue to operate during the challenging times they are facing and be in a position to reopen fully when Nassau County relaxes its social distancing guidelines.
